To date, geologists, historians, paleontologists, environmentalists, geophysicists, and scientists alike acknowledge that our planet still holds countless strange phenomena that science has yet to explain.

Numerous books and research documents from ancient times to the present day have recorded many strange events. Many locations around the world still experience these bizarre and mysterious phenomena, attracting thousands of scientists to study them, yet explanations remain vague. These include strange occurrences in Australia, Ireland, Peru, the mysterious lands of South America, Egypt, India, and more. Among these “unexplained ” phenomena is the story of the “ghost” armies appearing in the Loe Bar region.

The mystery of past armies
These “ghost” legions remain a mystery to humankind (illustrative image).

One afternoon in August 1936, Stephen Jenkins , 60, a geologist, arrived at Loe Bar, a location on the Cornish coast. While Jenkins was intently observing the landscape, he was suddenly astonished to see a medieval army appear before him.

Their uniforms indicated they were engaged in battle. The soldiers wore multicolored jackets and sleeveless cloaks in white, red, and black. Their horses had covers, complete with saddles and riding ornaments. One soldier stood in the middle of the group, sword in hand, his crimson cloak glaring intently at Jenkins.

Both bewildered and astonished, Jenkins, with his curiosity, courage, and adventurous spirit, did not hesitate to advance toward the army. But that action caused the entire medieval army to vanish instantly.

Jenkins was startled and bewildered, thinking he had just experienced a dream. He recounted the event to his wife, and they recorded this strange phenomenon in their journal. Then, 38 years later, Jenkins chose the exact day he had witnessed the strange event 38 years earlier to return with his wife to the very spot where he had stood.

The couple set off with a map showing the location where Jenkins had previously stood, and strangely enough, the image of the medieval army appeared even clearer this time than before. Although Mrs. Jenkins had not believed her husband’s story before, this time she saw clearly something she could not believe.

The army, with its resplendent uniforms, banners, horses, and swords, stretched out before her eyes. Terrified, she clung tightly to her husband’s arm and rubbed her eyes, thinking she was dreaming.

When reporting this event to a group of scientists, Stephen Jenkins said: ” If some of you had been with us at that time, perhaps this presentation would carry more weight and have a more honest and truthful value…”

The mystery of past armies
Scientists still believe in the strange phenomenon of “ghost” armies from the Middle Ages, but they have yet to find an explanation (illustrative image).

Many theories have been put forward to explain this phenomenon. According to Stephen Jenkins’ own explanation, this ghostly army may frequently appear in the Cornish region, and people are fortunate enough to see them due to some kind of psychic energy emanating from a node.

Loe Bar is still there, but the phenomenon that Jenkins witnessed in 1936 and 1974 is not easily recaptured, depending on the environment, climate, visibility, and especially the individual standing at that location . This might sound illogical at first, but according to Janet and Collin (two researchers of paranormal phenomena), it is indeed true.

These two researchers also documented a case of a ” ghost ” appearing in 1904.

That March, a group of students were taken on a field trip by their teacher. They climbed Marlpit Hill near Honiton. All the students saw a man wearing a brown cloak and a wide-brimmed black hat. His entire being and face were shrouded in a gloomy mist. According to Collin’s records, this ghost had been documented (in the library) since 1685. This man was one of those who fled the Battle of Sedgemoor in 1685 and was subsequently killed by the enemy. His house was located right on Marlpit Hill.

However, strangely, all the students on the field trip saw (the man from the past), but the teacher leading the students saw absolutely nothing at all.
